CURRENT PROJECTS

Along the DRC's border with Rwanda are two of the places with the greatest struggles in Africa.

In the middle of Lake Kivu is Idjwi island, a place of stunning beauty marred by intense poverty and all-too-brief life spans. There we are working to improve nutrition, increase self-sufficiency, educate youth, and advance gender equality. Read all about it here.

Along the northwest corner of the lake is the DRC's eighth largest city, Goma. Its recent history has been dominated by conflict: the Rwandan genocide of the 1990's, the first and second Congo wars into the early 2000s, and various rebellions since. We have accomplished much there and are currently working on improving health care along with education, skill development, and gender equality. You can see those here.
