Emergency situation in Goma

Mt.Nyiragongo, one of the world's most active and dangerous volcanoes, erupted on Saturday 22 May, bringing death and destruction to the population (around one million) of the nearby city of Goma. Since Saturday, lava has destroyed thousands of homes and services, and frequent earthquakes have brought further fears of more eruptions and more destruction. Kizungu is evacuating the Tchukudu Kids from their Home and seeking to transport them in our new boat to Idjwi island. We pray that Lake Kivu will be calm, and that they can all reach Idjwi safely. Lack of access to food, clean water and medicines are likely to cause a massive humanitarian crisis. Yet there is virtually no mainstream news coverage of this disaster!
